Author Turiya Raheem to Speak at Worthington Campus

TRaheemCome learn about the history of Atlantic City from one of Atlantic Cape’s own!

Turiya Raheem, author and current Atlantic Cape professor, will speak at the Worthington Campus (Rm 204) on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 beginning at 12:30 PM.

Ms. Raheem was born and raised in Atlantic City. She self-published a book chronicling her past entitled “Growing Up in the Other Atlantic City: Wash’s and the Northside.” Raheem’s Atlantic City was a far cry from the current casino dominated culture. It offered a vibrant black community with a Northside neighborhood filled with “soul-food restaurants, beauty parlors, barber shops, bakeries, drugstores, butcher shops and photography businesses.”

Please contact Cynthia Correa for more information about the event.
